The Southern Star

At the Parish Assembly meeting in May 2018 disappointment was expressed regarding non-publication in the Southern Star of events such as the First Holy Communion of 52 children, the Confirmation of 97 young adults earlier in the year, the Nathan Carter concert, and other major events.  The Star correspondents in most parishes include these but Skibbereen events seem to be overlooked.

A meeting was arranged with Con Downing, Editor and was attended by Jacinta Crowley, Chairperson, Dolores Ruane, Secretary and Diarmuid Ruane. It was agreed that a direct line of communication needed to be established between the Parish Assembly and the Southern Star.  Mr Downing was more than happy to step into this role of our direct link for future publication of church events and we look forward to working closely with Con Downing and the Southern Star.
