Break in at the Cathedral.

As you are aware there was a break in at the Cathedral recently. The intruders entered by the side door into the Adoration Chapel and then forced their way through the door from the altar to the sacristy where they broke into the safe and took the proceeds of the Sunday Offertory Collection. Thankfully physical damage was limited to the sacristy area and to the two doors. Thankfully no one was injured. The altar was not damaged and the sacred vessels, chalices etc. were not touched.

While an incident such as this is upsetting for everyone

it also brings out the best in people. We thank all

those who have offered support and practical help

during this week. We ask that if anyone saw any

suspicious activity in the Cathedral area at any time

from 7.00pm on Sunday evening October 1st to

7.45am on Monday morning, October 2nd they would

make contact with the Gardaí to help them with

their enquiries.
